Customer Need/Problem Ability to input data and perform calculations as in competing applications. Issues to deal with include parameter order and delimiters Comment - Eng Effort - Eng Owner Niklas Nebel Product Concept Other applications use the list separator character from regional settings as argument separator for formulas. In US-English locale this is a comma. SO/OOo uses a semicolon, regardless of locale settings. Migrating users who try to enter a formula into SO/OOo using the comma receive error messages and dont always immediately know what went wrong. In SO/OOo each cell can have its own number format language, so making the separator locale-dependent would lead to the confusing situation of having different argument separators within one document. We also cant change the separator in the file format or in API usage of formulas, for compatibility between SO/OOo versions. Instead of changing the separator character, we will detect wrong usage of comma (where it cant be mistaken for a decimal or thousands separator) in the formula auto correction and suggest the working formula with semicolons in that case. That way, it becomes obvious to the user that they have to use a semicolon, and the confusion about whats wrong is avoided. Functional Specification -

Due to missing resources the product team and the development decided to shift this feature to the next target 'OOo later'. It is unlikely to integrate this feature in OOo 2.0. If somebody in the community have the knowledge to help Sun here, please contact the development and retarget this feature.
