Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 57259
wrong size of DRAW objects in printout
Last modified: 2013-08-07 15:40:43 UTC
I copied a bit mapped image from PADS Power PCB (the only way to get an image out of it) into Draw. I added some text and arrow. I then copied it into a Writer document and add some text outside of the images. Everything went fine until I went to print it on an HP Laserjet 5000PS. The images were 2 to 3 times larger and wiped out most of the text. Print preview showed OK. Checked document page setting, printer setting, etc. All OK. I exported it as PDF. Openening the PDF shows the same as on the printer, So I exported the document into MSWord 2000 .doc file and printed it. It went OK. I have attached the .odt, .pdf, and . doc files.
Created attachment 31125 [details] Writer document with graphis that will not print properly

Created attachment 31127 [details] PDF file that shows how it looks on the printer.
Reassigned to HI.
I noticed later, that even the msword document was not quite correct. If you look on pages 3 & 5, and compare them to pages 3 & 5 of the .odt file, you will see some of the objects shifted and some rotated 90 degrees. Art
afore, please specify what exactly is wrong in .pdf. Also see if you can remove some objects and still reproduce the problem.
I checked with "2.0.2 German version WIN XP: [680m5(Build9011)]" and can confirm the problem: priontout looks like 'Rework_instructions_2.pdf', what differs from the view I see in the original document or even in the print preview. Main problem seems to be, that border areas of he bitmap which have been cropped away in DRAW (they are still visible in the Crop dialogue if you copy paste the first DRAW object back du DRAW), will be printed. Print of 'Rework_instructions_2.doc' works fine with WORD2000, but also ugly from OOo 2.0. It seems that the reasons for the problems are in DRAW, because I found out something strange: The view of the bitmap in the Crop dialogue is mirror-inverted ?! @afore: If you are still interested, I will give you some instructions how to create a complete testkit we need for a solution of this problem. A first quiestion just here: do you also see that problem if you copy such DRAW elements to CALC?

Reassigned since this problem is reported in writer with a writer document.
This issue is submited with a writer document, but it is not a writer issue. Writer just use the draw engine and the problem does also occur with draw and impress.
@hi: Do you see any chance to handle this issue without reporter's further contribution? I believe at least a PADS Power PCB clipboard contents will be required, as long we do not find anyone else using that software. Unfortunately it seems that the reporter has no further interest.
taking over. @rainerbielefeld: attached bugdoc should be sufficient (if, as you suspect, the bug is botched cropping during printout).
Reassigned, thanks.
set target to 3.0
Application/DrawingLayer problem, I believe - I'm swamped, cl, could you please take over?
if it is also a problem in writer than it must be below drawing layer since it is not used by writer for graphics. cl->sj: please investigate
