Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 62935
Not printing handouts
Last modified: 2017-05-20 11:08:16 UTC
I managed to print the presentation to PDF but not the handouts. Printing handouts in different ways always produced empty pages. Printing presentation and handout at once brought empty pages for handouts and correct printing for presentation. Best regards Wilfried
Sorry, not reproducible. Please give a detailed step by step description of your action to print the handouts. Which OS do you use? Did you check handouts under File/Print/Options/Content ? Thanks.
The OS is Windows XP File/Print/Options/Handout was checked in all cases Handout layout: 1 per page and 4 per page 2 ways of printing: 1: Normal tabbed in the main window; Zeichnung(Drawing?) and Handout checked in File/Print/Options. Result: Handouts come as empty pages, Slides (Drawing) OK 2: Handout tabbed in the main window; Handout checked in File/Print/Options. Result: Handouts come as empty pages. Results verified with (virtual printer) PDF995 and Canon S9000 Best regards Wilfried
Thanks for the fast reply. But still this is not reproducible. Do you use an official build from OOo? Can you attach a document that does not work for you? Thanks.
Version is 2.0.2.rc4 060227 (German), it's an official build. I need it (contains a bugfix) for certain reasons. My original document is 15 MB. But the problem also exists with a simple 1 page document. This will follow separately.
Created attachment 34698 [details] 1 page doc showing reported problem at my PC
Thanks, reproducible with the document. Reassigned.
Any progress on this? Not being able to print handouts with some documents seems to be a serious issue.
Created attachment 49197 [details] When printing handouts (4 per page) only blank pages are printed.
The attached document only prints blank pages with OO 2.3.0.1.2.
I got the same problem as Wilfried. Printing handouts produces empty / blank / white pages only. As well as printing to a file / exporting to a PDF... that's really annoying. I am using Windows XP and Kubuntu Gutsy Gibbon (7.10). (The problem exists on both systems.) Fortunately, there is a workaround (linux only) for those, who really need to get there handouts printed: http://www.oooforum.org/forum/viewtopic.phtml?p=110532#110532 Indeed, this workaround produces high-quality handouts. But it is quite complicated... Best regards bmaker
bmaker, it could be that your system is in high contrast mode or that you have selected a grayscale view quality. Can you please check if your problem still exists in OOo 2.4 and OOo 3.0 beta? I did some fundamental changes to handout printing that could have solved your problem.
reassigning to me
cl, I tested it with OOo 2.4 instead of 2.3 now and I got the following results: - Standard quality => works - Grayscale => doesnt work (produces empty pages) - Black and white => works But, along with the OOo update, I upgraded my Kubuntu 7.10 system to Kubuntu 8.04. So, I cant guarantee that the OOo-Update is responsible for this enhancement. I'll test the beta later... my connection is not very fast.
great, the grayscale problem is fixed in the OOo 3.0 code line. If someone who can reproduce the issue on his system can check this on the OOo 3.0 beta then I think we can close this issue.
I believe your issue may be fixed with the new OOo 3 BETA (still in testing): http://download.openoffice.org/3.0beta/ Please consider testing this new release and report back the outcome so this Issue may be Closed or Progressed as necessary. I can confirm (although not being the submitter) that 2.4 didn't print it in grayscale mode, but DEV300_m12 does... DEV300_m12 beta prints the handouts in all three modes. This issue may be closed I think.
