Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 64202
Spreadsheet inserted as OLE object resets viewed sheet when doing Update All
Last modified: 2017-05-20 11:11:33 UTC
- First you must build a non empty Spreadsheet with 2 pages and save it to disk. - Then you must create a text document in the wordprocessor. - Now, you must insert 2 views of the spreadsheet as OLE object from file (insert/Object/Ole Object from file option). - You must personalize each view. For example, doing double click in one of the views in order to select distinct pages in each view. - After that you must exit formthe ole view clicking on the text document. - Finally, if you update the links (tools/update/links) the personalization is gone. The views are identical.
Created attachment 35605 [details] ODT document and linked spreadsheet (open with out update links)
It is important to insert the the OLE object with the option "linked to file" active. In general, any modification to a view to a OLE Object is lost after the update link action.
I didn't get this to work with Update->Links but with Update->Update All; so confirmed with 680_m162 on WinXP Pro SP2
Ok. "Update->Update All" fails. Update->Links seems to work, but if you single click in a view of a sheet it resets. Also, if you save the document and load it latter, and if you choose "yes" to the answer "Update links?" they get reset again.
MRU->OC: when linking to a calc document, I think it is not possible to show two different views, right? The information about which table will be shown on opening is stored in the file, right?
It is true. In "others" wordprocessors it is not possible to show two different views. In this case I think that OpenOffice.org works better than "others" wordprocessors. I begin using OLE objects because DDE links don't maintain de format of the text. Then I must conclude that you can't link several parts of a spreedshet maintaining the original format. "Other" wordprocessors allow you to do that with "cut/copy with link".
Hi Niklas, please have a look at this one and re-assign if needed. Frank

Found the same problem in OO 2.2.0 (Fedora 7)
This seems to me being an Writer bug rather than a Spreadsheet bug, isn't it?
retarget 2.x -> 3.x

Confirmed with 3.2.0 Windows XP But also on Linux X64 with 3.2.0 and OOO320m15 (build:9492) So should we change its OS to "All" ?
